The adoption process has been creeping along since November slowly but surely...up until last week that is. There were so many hiccups during the paperwork time that none of it is even worth getting into BUT last week we got a call that we had FINALLY been assigned a social worker (which means all of our paperwork went through:) We then had our individual interviews based upon how we answered questions in our individual assessments and we picked a date for our home inspection. They will be coming to our house Thursday, August 1st (feel free to pray for us!!!). We have a list of things to get done to the house in order for the inspection to be a success. Then, our social worker writes up or home study and we are open to adopt, let the child search begin! She says her prep takes a couple of weeks post the home study so we are looking at being open for a child near the end of August. We are excited, confused, scared, insert emotions here because we pretty much feel them all. This is sooner than we anticipated but we were weary of getting our child near the holidays so maybe this is God's way of avoiding that! Despite the fact that we're open for a child near the end of August it could take days to months to years to actually get one placed in our homes. Unfortunately everyone has a different story of how long it took for them to get a child placed so there is no telling but our social worker did say that she can't imagine it will take a long time because of who we are and the child/children we are willing to take. We'll keep you all updated, pray for us during this uncertain time, woohooo for finally being the Koning 5 like the blog says:)
